How We Do It

We understand that every widow’s situation is unique. There is no denying that the loss of a spouse is one of the most emotionally devastating and stressful events someone can experience in life, but each widow will manage it differently. All experience the emotional rite of passage, yet some are more equipped to handle the mountain of tasks and to-do lists after a loss than others. Still, even these women will be challenged. So, for most widows, professional help will be required at some point.

Wings for Widows uses a team approach to work with you. Our dedicated team of "Angels" are passionate about helping you through this challenging transition. The first team member is a Certified Financial Planner professional, knowledgeable about a wide range of financial topics including financial planning principles, education planning, risk management, insurance, investments, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning. He or she has experience with gathering information, analysis, and developing, communicating, implementing and monitoring recommendations. They must meet rigorous qualifications to be so designated and must complete ongoing education and ethics training annually. This team member has estate settlement experience and a giving-heart to ensure you receive the one-on-one counseling you need.

The second team member is a widow - someone who has walked the same painful path. Someone who might have made mistakes early on and desperately wants to help you from making similar mistakes. She is your "case manager" who will meet with you initially, attend each working meeting, and then monitor your progress until you're back on your financial feet.

Our volunteers have one goal in mind: to help you gain control of your financial life. And the sooner you can wrap your arms around your financial situation the sooner you will get control of the other aspects of your life. Shall we get started?
