I Need Help with Everything

Wings for Widows offers two options for financial coaching. The first option is a nine-week course offered through Financial Peace University (FPU). This course provides the basics - the essentials of financial management, especially debt management; learn more about this program here. The second option is a more robust financial coaching engagement offered through Wings for Widows, discussed below.

Financial coaching is the core of what we do. This means that we do it better than anyone, because we've spent years in the financial planning business and we've spent thousands of hours coaching widows and widowers. Our process and tools were developed specifically for surviving spouses encountering financial confusion, turmoil and crisis after the loss of loved one. We understand the priorities - the things that need your attention first - and those things that can be handled later. We help you get your financial situation organized, prioritized and stabilized. We help you put your financial house in order. You'll gain clarity and control of your financial wellness.

After an initial assessment and based on your individual circumstances, you will be paired with a financial coach. In most cases your coach will be a registered, licensed and experienced financial adviser. When appropriate you could be paired with a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) professional. Our coaches are knowledgeable about a wide range of financial topics including financial planning principles, education planning, risk management, insurance, investments, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning. He or she has experience with gathering information, analysis, and developing, communicating, implementing and monitoring recommendations. This is what separates us from FPU and other financial literacy  and coaching programs - the experience, knowledge and wisdom of our financial coaches. Depending on your situation, a financial coaching engagement usually takes 3-4 coaching sessions over 4-6 weeks to complete. There is no fee for our financial coaching program.

Wings for Widows uses a team approach while working with you. Your financial coach is paired with one of our Widow Advocates - an experienced widow volunteer who's walked the same painful path. She is your "case manager" who will meet with you initially and check-in with you throughout your coaching engagement.
