Financial Coaching

Too often, widows don't know what they don't know about finances. As if processing grief isn't overwhelming enough, you now have to grapple with a mountain of new and unfamiliar information. The media bombards you with scary financial headlines, well-intentioned family and friends offer conflicting financial advice, and you have no clue who or what to trust at such a vulnerable and uncertain time. If this describes how you feel, you're in the right place.

Our goal is to help the newly-widowed embrace their financial future with confidence.

We know most widows and widowers aren't prepared for the financial aftermath of losing a spouse. Nothing can compare to working through this difficult time with a knowledgeable and trusted friend who has your best interests at heart. Unfortunately, few have such a person. And even fewer possess the experience or knowledge to assist you. Wings for Widows is the perfect partner to fill this role. We provide financial coaching to widows and widowers so that they can learn what they don't know, make good financial decisions, and take control of their financial wellness.

Financial coaching is core to what we do. This means that we do it better than anyone, because we've spent years in the financial planning business and we've spent thousands of hours coaching widows and widowers. Our process and tools were developed specifically for surviving spouses encountering financial confusion, turmoil, and crisis after the loss of loved one. We understand the priorities - the things that need your attention first - and those things that can be handled later. We help you get your financial situation organized, prioritized, and stabilized. We help you put your financial house in order. You'll gain clarity and control of your financial life.

When you work with one of our financial coaches you will also receive this workbook, created by Wings for Widows and written to help you and your coach tackle the daunting issues that all new widows face after a spouse dies. "The New Widow's Guide to Financial Wellness" is yours to keep absolutely free.

After an initial assessment and based on your individual circumstances, you will be paired with a financial coach. In most cases your coach will be a registered, licensed, and experienced financial advisor. Most will be paired with a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) professional. This is what distinguishes us from all other financial literacy and coaching services, like Financial Peace University.

Our coaches are knowledgeable about a wide range of financial topics including financial planning principles, education planning, risk management, insurance, investments, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning. He or she has experience with gathering information, analysis, and developing, communicating, implementing and monitoring recommendations. You would normally pay thousands of dollars to work with one of our coaches; we provide this service for free. Sounds silly not to get the best coaching available, right?

If you have a phone or a computer / laptop / iPad, you are ready to be coached "virtually." This allows us to work with widows from coast to coast. It is also coronavirus-safe. Most importantly, you can include trusted family members or friends (limit to two) from around the country to join you during our coaching calls. In fact, we encourage it.

We invite everyone to begin by taking our confidential Progress Check - a five-minute questionnaire that will help you better understand your current financial situation. How are you progressing with your long list of "to-do's?" What haven't you done that you didn't know needed doing? Where are you clearly struggling and need help? Our Progress Check will answer these questions. It's free and it's helpful to you and to us if you decide to work with a financial coach. To get started, click here.

Don't think you need financial coaching, but have a financial, legal, or other question? Please click here.

If you take the Progress Check, you will hear from us. If you do not wish to take the Progress Check, please complete the form below to learn more about our financial coaching program. A representative will reply to you soon.
