Our Coaching Plus Program




This is the first step after contacting Wings for Widows. You will be greeted by a team of two caring and experienced volunteers at a place and time of your choosing. You are encouraged to include a trusted family member, friend or clergy member during this initial meeting and, if possible, throughout the process. The objective of this introductory 


meeting is for you to learn more about your volunteers and about our process. And we want to learn more about you, help set expectations, and outline next steps. You will be encouraged to take the 3-Minute Progress Check if you haven't already. Then, when you're ready to move forward, we'll do so.



As each phase of the assessment is completed, you will receive an Action Plan for that phase. Each Action Plan is an understandable and actionable checklist of essential must-do items. We encourage you to work on these items while the conversation from our meeting is fresh in your mind. This "roadmap" will put you in control of your finances, and with control comes confidence. Each subsequent meeting with you will allow us to review your progress, answer any questions, and keep you moving toward your destination - financial freedom! And we're always close by; in fact, your case manager will be checking in with you periodically to ensure you're on track for completing your Action Plan(s).




Even with a roadmap, you might not feel quite ready to take the wheel – to take full control of your Action Plan. Or you may require specialized help beyond the scope of our services. In these cases, we continue to help by referring you to professionals, partner organizations, and other resources we have vetted to ensure you get the assistance you need. Before we roll up our sleeves and get to work we'll have you review and sign a ​Service Agreement, which simply outlines the scope of our services. It is not a contract; there is no obligation and never a cost for our services.


Assessing your financial situation is broken down into three phases: Get Organized, Get Prioritized & Get Stabilized (see below). The purpose of our first meeting (and perhaps additional follow-up meetings) is to ORGANIZE your information - find important documents, take inventory of contracts and statements, and understand what you might not have but need to obtain. Our next meeting(s) will PRIORITIZE those tasks that need to be done immediately, like reviewing your household budget, understanding cash flow (income sources and expenses), and claiming benefits. Finally, as we work to STABILIZE your situation, we will review those items that protect you, your family and your assets. We will review asset ownership and legal documents, specifically. Our data gathering encompasses nine important areas (not every widow requires help with all nine) and takes from a few weeks to a few months to complete the assessment. Again, we work at your pace so it varies for everyone.



Wings for Widows provides the assistance you need regardless of your financial circumstances. We meet you wherever you are, and will spend the time you require to accelerate your transition from loss and heartbreak to hope, purpose and fulfillment. You will build confidence to make important decisions, take control of your finances, and complete the journey ahead.
