2020 Annual Benefit

~ A Virtual Event ~

In May we announced our plans to host our inaugural Annual Benefit on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Interlachen Country Club. Due to the continuing pandemic and the safety concerns presented with large gatherings we hosted a virtual event on Facebook “Live.”

Our goal was simple: to share our story and the stories of the widows we serve. We wanted to raise awareness of our services and finally we hoped to raise funds to serve this underserved community, as we do not charge for our services.

While it saddened us to be unable to tell our story in person, our virtual event was a resounding success. We had over 10,000 viewers watch some portion of our program with an average viewership of over 6,000. It was a lively event with nearly 500 engagements, which includes likes and comments. And we raised more than $50,000 in 60 minutes. We are truly grateful and amazed at the support we received. Thank you to all who watched, donated, or both.

We want to thank our emcee Michael Pearce Donley of Triple Espresso who performed three beautiful songs and worked his stage magic to make the evening "unforgettable" (his opening number).

During the waning moments of the event we opened our lines to enter our prize drawing - a trip to the big island of Hawaii next year. Our winner was Dirk Koenig. More about his story to follow...

All proceeds raised during the event will benefit the expansion of our financial coaching programs. We currently serve the great State of Minnesota but will soon begin serving widows from coast to coast. Wings for Widows is a 501(c)3 organization and contributions are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Thank you for your generosity and support.
